The unofficial guide to  Disneyland, California

Disneyland Frontierland

Frontierland

To enter Frontierland from the Central Plaza, you'll have to pass through the two huge fort-style gates. Traditionally closed to protect the inhabitants from external attack, they are now left open so visitors such as yourself can experience the early pioneer days of the American frontier.

There is high adventure here for sure - the Mark Twain Riverboat and vintage Sailing Ship Columbia are almost always available for a scenic, 12-minute journey down the tranquil Rivers of America.

While isolated on all sides by the slow-moving but wide river, Tom Sawyer Island has dark and mysterious caves to explore, and pirates have been known to hide their booty there as well. Brave adventureres can board wooden rafts near Splash Mountain for a safe trip across the river.

Be wary of Big Thunder Mountain, though. While gold was discovered there decades ago, it has since been cursed by the local Native Americans.
Still, riding the abandoned mine cars is one of the best thrills at Disneyland.

Frontierland borders Fantasyland, New Orleans Square and Adventureland.
